The idea of My Career is great, you create your own wrestler and you start off at the bottom of the WWE as a trainee. The goal is to work your way up to legendary status. It is a fantastic idea and in some ways, they do pull it off. The mode is a tad slow, but if you get a connection to your created wrestler, this mode can get you pretty invested in what is going on. This lets you take control of the WWE. You get to decide what the rosters for each show are, create your own shows and PPVs and decide what the storylines will be.
I love WWE Universe mode and while it may have the odd bug here or there, as a wrestling fan this is a mode that I spent a ton of time with. Also, if you are playing the PS3 or version, this is your only single-player mode!
Visually when WWE 2K17 gets it right it knocks it out of the park. Some of the character models in this game and the series in general look incredibly lifelike. However, others can look flat out disturbing. There is also an issue with hair clipping through the bodies which has been happening since the days of Smackdown on the PS1 and it is still not fixed.
The game also has incredible production values, the wrestler entrances show off the character models and the incredible arena designs too. By the time we got to WWE 2K17, I feel that 2K had developed a decent in-ring formula and decided to just stick with it. The gameplay here is fine, it is very, very similar to WWE 2K16 and the following years 18, but I have always had fun with these games.
There is a massive selection of match types and sometimes a match can have some awesome back and forth action that gets you heavily invested in the action. However, they really did not try to add anything new for this year's game and that made a lot of people mad! Removing a game mode, replacing it with nothing, and then expecting us to play for that game mode as DLC felt like a slap in the face. Also, the fact the PS3 and versions were missing the new game mode they did add made that version feels even more inferior.
This blue circle is the sign of signature, as you know that every player has two moves, one is signature and second is a finisher when players beat signature move in this installment, the opponent circle turns blue, but when a character is about to beat finisher, the circle turns red.

Every year the fans hope for a great outcome when a new 2K WWE title is released and every year they are disappointed. This year is no different. You play the typical way, you press certain button combinations and see your player on screen execute those orders and in effect trigger the predefined animations for that particular move you made. That is the extent of gameplay that you will be seeing over and over again.
WWE 2K17 comes with a slower pace and might feel a tad bit slow for some of the players who like fast action. The slow pace might be good for heavyweights, but for the agile and quick characters it feels wrong to see them move sooooo slow.
Not the best, but it all works out. The reversal system returns and that is what you will be doing the entire time, wait for your opponent to attack you and do a reversal mid-move. The character creator is decent and the rivalry system works pretty well.
Once you select a player or create your own, at some point you will get into an argument with your opponent and thus begins your rivalry. There are bugs, a lot of them. Some of them are so glitched that you have no option but to quit and restart. Dialogue delivery is another thing that the developers have messed if. It is not fun to see your character mouthing words that you cannot hear. The split of Smackdown and RAW is not mentioned anywhere, neither is the roster that comes with this split complete.
